T-Shirt Lingo and Stuff You Might Want to Know:
Although ordering a screen printed t-shirt might seem like a simple process, it does involve many different criteria such as color, size, style, brand and ESPECIALLY weight. Here is an example of garment weight.
Garment weight is based on the number of ounces of material per square yard of fabric; Examples:
- 3.5 oz. = very thin/sheer material
- 4.5 oz. = thin men's dress shirt
- 5.0 - 6.1 oz = 100% cotton or blend (50/50)
- 6.5 oz. = average denim
- 10 oz. = canvass tote bag
Most of the standard brand of t-shirts fall into the 5.0, 5.6 and 6.0 weight category. 50/50 blends are a cotton and polyester. Price will vary dependent on the weight of the fabric. Quality is good no matter what the weight and you pretty much have to be a real fabric expert to feel the difference between a 5.6 and 6.0 shirt.
